Another important point, and one which Hollywood tends to forget at times — every culture across the world has myths and legends about supernatural creatures, and many of them can be placed within the general categories of the four main types of European creatures.  It’s not always a perfect fit, and there is a lot of variety out there.  But when we think of things like vampires and werewolves, we tend to imagine European counts in opera capes or English noblemen-turned-wolfmen howling at the moon.  This is, of course, a cultural bias, which Hollywood is only too happy to perpetuate, for the most part.  Colt, being a child of Hollywood, had never even considered Native werewolves, despite knowing a couple himself (Delray and Luc Sinclaire).
